In a few words, designed and prototyped an app whilst creating a design system to visualise vital information for a monthly cultural event taking place in San José, the capital of Costa Rica.
Role and responsibilities
Managed a 4-person team as project manager, designed interfaces and experiences as a UX/UI designer, structured content as an information architect, and created visual assets as a graphic designer.
Process
Researching. Gather client requirements—analyse and identify design patterns in references—understand users’ needs—draft alpha architecture—conduct card sorting—define navigation paths.
Prototyping. Create wireframes—draft beta architecture—implement semantics, look and feel—prototype.
Testing. Test prototype—apply feedback.
Reflection
This six-month project taught me what it truly takes to design an app that meets the needs of its users. Beyond a well thought out interface, there’s a bigger importance in stripping the experience down to its core to provide clear navigation paths. It allowed me to work closely with the artistic-cultural scene of San José—an eye opening experience in my early design student years.
