Mechanical Humans

Short Film, Robotics, Critical Art

Mechanical Humans is a critical art piece that shows, through robot physical intimacy, how humans are imitating robots, becoming ever more mechanical and less emotional.

Philosopher Donna Haraway wrote A Cyborg Manifesto, where she explores the human obsession with assigning dichotomies to polar opposites: black and white, wrong and right, human and robot. She explained that there might be something in between, in our case, a cyborg.

What sets us apart from robots? What is it to love as a human? Are you becoming more mechanical?

Mechanical Humans won the Grand Prize at the ArtTech Hack 2026 at ETH Zürich.
